A look at the live TV ratings for Monday, Oct. 5

There were plenty of new episodes of top shows on Monday, Oct. 5. Sadly, almost everything saw a downward tick in the TV ratings. It’s time to look back at the night.

CBS hosted Monday Night Football throughout the night. It shouldn’t be too surprising to hear that it was the best performer of the night. 12.66 million people tuned in and the demo sat at a 3.6 rating.

The high figures didn’t hold for the new episode of Big Brother. It has certainly been a disappointing season, and the ratings continue to show that viewers aren’t impressed. Oct. 5’s episode saw a drop of 28% from the previous Monday night episode in the total audience. The demo dropped 20%. While the demo was the best of the timeslot, the audience fell in behind Emergency Call on ABC.

Dancing With the Stars drops after Tyra Banks’s gloat

Tyra Banks quickly took to Instagram last week to almost gloat about the live TV ratings for Dancing With the Stars. The viewing figures have been up, but this is a completely different year to recent Dancing With the Stars ratings.

More from Entertainment

She may have spoken too soon. The audience dropped by 12% and the demo dropped by 18% this week. While the figures are still the best for regular programming of the night, they’re a caution. We’ll need to wait and see if the lack of content or Carole Baskin was the reason for the higher ratings at the start of the season.

The drop continued for ABC. While pulling in the best audience of the timeslot against Big BrotherEmergency Call was still down 10% to 3.49 million. The demo remained steady.

Live TV ratings for NBC, FOX and The CW

Meanwhile, NBC had a special. Decision 2020: Biden Town Hall took the first hour of the night, pulling in 3.80 million viewers and a 0.5 rating. Not all viewers would stick around for a new episode of American Ninja Warrior. The reality program lost 38% of its audience and 30% of its demo.

FOX also struggled, with LA’s Finest losing 31% of its audience and 25% of its demo. This isn’t necessarily dangerous. After all, LA’s Finest originally aired on Spectrum and is still available to stream through the service. Those who have enjoyed the first two episodes may have decided to binge-watch through Spectrum.

Filthy Rich continued the downward trend, losing 23% of its total audience. It did remain steady in the demo. The figures are on the low side, though. We do have to remember that Filthy Rich wasn’t initially going to be a fall show. It was pushed to the fall for pandemic-proof programming, which FOX will hopefully take into consideration as it is a fun guilty pleasure.

Then there’s The CW, which saw some downward ticks. Whose Line Is It Anyway?‘s new episode was down almost 5% in the audience and steady in the demo. Penn & Teller: Fool Us was down by almost 18% in the total audience but up 100% in the demo.

These ratings are nothing to worry about for The CW. I don’t worry about these two shows not being renewed. They’re staples on the network and excellent for reruns.
