Was Netflix’s The Haunting of Bly Manor filmed in a real haunted manor in England?
Whenever a new horror series or movie premieres, audiences want to know if it’s based on a true story and where the project was filmed. Here’s what we know about The Haunting of Bly Manor on Netflix.
Most of the time, searching for details about whether or not what we’ve watched is real and where it was filmed only ends up disappointing us. You would be amazed by the magic of Hollywood and how many times a seemingly amazing location (on-screen) turns out to be a lot in California or a studio in Atlanta.
That said, you may already know you’re in for disappointment when it comes to the Netflix horror series.
Where was Netflix’s Bly Manor truly filmed?
According to IMDB, Bly Manor was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. And if you don’t trust the sources at IMDB much, Oprah Mag offers the same information.
Based on the scoop Oprah Mag has, The Haunting of Bly Manor was, indeed, filmed in Vancouver. Hey, at least it’s better than the main filming location of Hill House, which is Atlanta.
Is Bly Manor based on a true story?
Another letdown! No, the latest season of The Haunting is not based on a real story. It is a retelling of the novel “The Turn of the Screw,” by Henry James. Oh well, it’s a brilliant story and we’d be lying if we said it didn’t scare us a few times (okay, maybe more than a few).
What did you think about the series? Did you enjoy it more than Hill House? Are you disappointed it wasn’t even filmed in the English Countryside and is not based on a real lady of the lake?
