The best moments of The Boys Season 2 finale brings the show to a surprising close

If The Boys has taught us anything, it’s that having the upper hand (or superpowers) can mean you can easily do whatever you want with little to no consequences. At least, that’s been the norm for The Seven with the luxury of PR company Vaught to sweep all of their discrepancies under the rug. The Boys Season 2 continued the track record for invincible Supes, but Butcher and his boys are still up for the challenge.

As always, The Boys remain the underdogs with no superpowers (except Kimiko) to assist their rebellion against the Supes and Vought. However, this season they had the added burden of being labeled criminals and being forced into hiding. To add to their misery, they stumble across a myriad of issues. A facility of Compound V test subjects, an exploding whale, a new Nazi Supe, and a mystery Supe with exploding powers makes it hard for The Boys to get ahead.

What’s more, Homelander has found love in the newest member of The Seven, Stormfront. The duo is hands down the most deranged couple of the year since Stormfront is not only a Nazi enthusiast but is also turned on by killing people just like Homelander. The Boys honestly had the odds stacked against them with these two. Somehow, they managed to drudge through coming out on the other side a little worse for wears and pulling off a bittersweet curtain close in their finale episode.

Here is a rundown of the best moments of The Boys Season 2 finale

Homelander leans into being a Dad

While Homelander is a bit demented and too selfish to genuinely show love to his son, he still manages to have his first Dad moment. When Homelander fans swarm the father and son, Homelander not only takes Ryan out of the overwhelming situation, but he has a one on one where he opens up and reveals his weaknesses.

Stormfront is defeated

Stormfront’s lightning powers made her unstoppable, but that doesn’t mean she’s invincible. Starlight, Kimiko, and Maeve join forces to give her a proper beat down. Stormfront still manages to limp away and is fried by Ryan’s Homelander powers when she tries to choke Becca in front of her son. The force of Ryan’s laser beams leaves Stormfront charred and limbless. She is later framed by Vought for the exploding congressmen and is supposedly taken away.

Becca and Butcher don’t get their happy ending

Becca was successful at pushing to save her son, but she couldn’t have it all in the end. Stormfront tried to choke the life out of her, and in an attempt to save Becca, Ryan’s unmanaged powers mortally wound her. There is no sadder fate, then Ryan accidentally killing his mother.

Butcher almost goes after Ryan

Butcher isn’t a fan of Ryan, although he is only an innocent boy. Butcher’s Supe hate extends to all superpower life forms, and he was even willing to cut a deal with Vought that they would take Ryan, and he would run off with Becca. The worst part is that it wasn’t even Vought’s idea.

Butcher changes his mind after seeing Becca interact with her son. But when Becca dies, Butcher picks up a crowbar and almost goes after Ryan. The only thing that stops Butcher is that he promised Becca that he would protect Ryan in her absence.

Maeve stands up for what’s right

Maeve finally ditches the silent and complicit act and apprehends Homelander at the right time. She threatens to release the video evidence that he purposely killed people on the airliner in Season 1.

Homelander rebuttals that he’ll go on a killing rampage if she does, but Maeve points out that at that point, everyone will know who he is. Homelander can’t live without his adoring fans, and he follows orders to let Butcher go.

The exploding heads Supe is Neuman

Possibly the most disturbing scene this season was when people’s heads began to explode during a congressional hearing. The show almost ends without anyone knowing what Supe is to blame for the carnage.

As the season finale concluded, we discovered that congresswoman Victoria Neuman, and newly elected head of the Office of Supe Affairs, is actually an undercover Supe. She blows up the leader of the Church of the Collective and is now Hugie’s new boss.
