Will Arrow’s John Diggle be a character on the new Green Lantern series

HBO Max is added to the world of superheroes. The Green Lantern series has officially been green (get it) lit, and now it’s time to see what we know so far.

There are a lot of questions about the series. One of those is whether Arrow‘s John Diggle will be one of the versions of the Green Lantern focused on. Fans of the CW series will remember the Green Lantern spin-off was teased in the Arrow series finale with Diggle finding a light that shone a brilliant green.

Well, there’s no word on that just yet. It’s possible, especially with Marc Guggenheim attached to the show, but no official word just yet.

Green Lantern release date and episode order

There is no release date as of the time writing this. We’ll update this post when that is revealed.

More from Streaming

However, remember that it took a year to go from the show being announced to officially being picked up to series. The project is only just entering the development stage.

There will be 10 episodes to the first season. That’s become standard for Warner Bros. TV shows on streaming services, including the likes of Titans and Doom Patrol.

Multiple Green Lanterns to the story

Variety reported the news of the series being picked up. The publication also reported that this series would focus on multiple Green Lanterns. This could mean John Diggle pops up, but there’s no confirmation.

The Green Lanterns confirmed are Guy Gardner, Simon Baz, Jessica Cruz, and Alan Scott. Scott was the first-ever Lantern from Earth. An Earth-2 version of Scott was created and was a gay man. It’s this version we appear to be getting for the new TV series.

Sinestro and Kilowog will also feature in the series, while other heroes will be included but haven’t been named just yet.

Writers, executive producers, and more

The series will be co-written by Guggenheim and Seth Grahame-Smith. Both will also be executive producers on the series. This does open the door for mentions from the Arrowverse, especially the first series, which Guggenheim helmed.

Grahame-Smith will be showrunner on the series. Berlanti Productions will produce, which certainly helps to keep the entire universe created so far for TV together.

There looks to have been a Lantern as part of the original JSA on Stargirl. While the series is part of the Arrowverse, there’s no guarantee that will become part of the new story. Stargirl has moved from DC Universe to becoming a sole-CW project.
