Everything we know about the Legacies Season 3 premiere date so far
Legacies is usually one of the fall shows on The CW. When Legacies Season 3 didn’t premiere, it’s understandable if you worried about its cancellation. The good news is that the third season is happening, it’s just been delayed.
Like so many other shows, Legacies has struggled to get back up and running because of the coronavirus. Various extra protocols are in place, and it means delays in returning to production. That has a knock-on effect on premiere dates.
The CW knew something like this could happen, so opted for a pandemic-proof fall. Legacies Season 3 is among the shows pushed to 2021. Here’s everything we know so far.
Legacies Season 3 release date
There isn’t a release date for Legacies Season 3 just yet. The CW will bring it back to air on Thursdays at 9/8c, following the new series Walker. However, that’s not going to be until January 2021.

A premiere date will be set closer to the time. The show has to get back into production first.
Legacies Season 3 cast
Expect the majority of the cast to return. There’s no need to worry about the following:
- Kaylee Bryant as Josie
- Jenny Boyd as Lizzie
- Peyton Alex Smith as Rafael
- Quincy Fouse as MG
- and Matt Davis as Alaric
We’re not 100% certain if Danielle Rose Russell and Aria Shahghasemi will return as Hope and Landon. At least, not right away.
Hope was placed under a sleeping spell at the end of the second season. That could mean she’s out for a few episodes while the group figure out how to save her.
Landon was stabbed with a golden arrow. Could he be a permanent exit from the show? Considering The Vampire Diaries and The Originals found ways to bring dead characters back in some form, I wouldn’t rule Landon’s return out just yet.

Legacies Season 3 trailer
There isn’t a trailer just yet, which isn’t surprising. Production hasn’t started yet to bring us any fresh content.

Legacies Season 3 synopsis
Legacies Season 2, Episode 16 wasn’t initially intended to be the finale. The show had a 22-episode order, but only up to Episode 16 had finished filming up to the pandemic shutdown. It did work as a good accidental finale.
The story will pick up from that. At least there are a few storylines already planned out because of the scripts left unfilmed.
There are a few storylines that will need to be wrapped up or continued in the third season. The first is Josie’s loss of dark magic at the hands of the necromancer, and the second is Hope’s sleeping curse.
A musical episode was planned for the second season, but it never filmed. It will be included in the new season.
