Servant on Apple TV Plus is the perfect Halloween binge-watch, here’s why

Of all movies and shows that have been recommended as great and spooky Halloween binge-watches, Servant on Apple TV Plus is missing from the list! Here’s why it’s actually the perfect series to watch.

During the Halloween season, slasher films tend to be the most popular. Right along with supernatural films and other thrillers, these are the go-to each Halloween. Think Friday the 13th, Scream, and other classics.

What will you be watching over the Halloween weekend? If you’re searching for something unique and different, Servant on Apple TV Plus is the series to watch. Let’s break down what you’re missing out on.

What is Servant about?

Servant follows Dorothy and Sean Turner, a married couple who hire Leanne as their live-in-nanny. Right off the bat, there’s just something about Leanne, but the real issue isn’t the creepy nanny, it’s the baby she’s hired to care for, a 13-week-old baby named Jericho.

The issue is, Jericho passed away under mysterious circumstances, and Leanne is instead given a doll when she arrives. Everyone but Dorothy knows it’s a doll. Unfortunately, her son’s passing left Dorothy unresponsive and the doll was the only thing that brought her back.

Leanne plays along and pretends it’s a live baby, whether Dorothy is around or not, which bothers Sean. One day, Leanne returns from a walk with an actual real baby — did she bring Jericho back to life?

Servant delivers a gut-punch of emotions

What stands out the most from the series is that it’s a psychological thriller that truly toys with your mind. Despite having a dark and supernatural feel and story, the emotion is very real and you feel every bit of it.

It’s not only Dorothy’s emotions as a grieving mother in denial that get to you. You feel that, sure, but the emotional impact goes beyond that. Audiences are instantly captivated by the story and what the characters are going through.

Rupert Grint is the standout, but that doesn’t mean all other characters don’t bring something grand to the table. It’s an all-around fantastic cast.

The mystery is ongoing from the first to the final scene. While this means that many questions go unanswered, instead of feeling cheated, one looks forward to more — which not just any series is able to do. Usually, fans are turned off by unanswered questions, but Servant handles it so well that it only intrigues more.

This isn’t to say the psychological thriller ignores the audience’s needs, but it answers exactly what it needs to while adding more mystery and questions along the way.

By the end of Servant season 1, you learn something huge, but are even more curious by the mysteries to come.
