Saved by the Bell reboot: release date, cast, trailer, and more
Everything we know about Saved by the Bell on Peacock so far
Are you ready to take a trip back to Bayside High? Well, get ready to hang out with your old friends (and some new ones) at The Max because NBC has delivered everything we need to know about Saved by the Bell!
Ever since it was first announced that there would be a reboot of this old favorite for NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, we’ve felt ourselves quoting Jessie Spano quite a lot. (You know the line: “I’m so excited. I’m so…scared.” ) Unlike with Jessie’s breakdown, though, no caffeine pills were involved in the creating of those feelings—just a good, old-fashioned love of television and a heavy wave of nostalgia.
How many original cast members can we expect to see back on our screens? Will the series still have that same old feel? And what’s the Saved by the Bell reboot release date? We finally have all the details here.
What’s the Saved by the Bell release date?
You can expect to stream the Saved by the Bell reboot beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 25. That’s right in time for Thanksgiving, so consider it the perfect Friendsgiving.
While you’re waiting for the new episodes to drop, you can already stream the original series and Saved by the Bell: The College Years on Peacock TV. So, if you haven’t seen what the hype is all about yet, you’ll have the chance to get all caught up on a basic idea of what to expect. And if you have already watched every episode hundreds of times, that just means you get to watch them at least once more.
Saved by the Bell cast
Plenty of your favorites from Bayside High are returning, in various capacities—some of which make little to no sense, but we’re going with it.
As they say in the trailer, some of us only care about Zack and Kelly and whether or not their relationship has stood the test of time. Lucky for us, there are answers: Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen are back as Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski. Mitchell Hoog will play their son, Mac.
Elizabeth Berkley and Mario Lopez are back as Jessie Spano and A.C. Slater. While Slater is apparently flying solo these days, Jessie has a son named Jamie (Belmont Cameli).
Mac and Jamie aren’t the only kids in the school, though. Some of the newest Bayside Tigers are Devante (Dexter Darden), Aisha (Alycia Pascual-Peña), Lisa Turtle (Lark Voorhies), Lexi (Josie Totah), and Daisy (Haskiri Velazquez).
Need another familiar face to balance out all these newbies? Ed Alonzo is returning as Max. You can’t go to Bayside High without visiting The Max for a quick bite and some magical entertainment, after all.
Also of note: John Michael Higgins, who you might know from Pitch Perfect or any number of other projects, is Bayside’s newest principal. One can only assume Mr. Belding finally gave up on working with the world’s most exasperating student body.
Saved by the Bell reboot synopsis
What else can we expect from the newest version of our this favorite? Here’s the series synopsis, straight from NBC:
"When California governor Zack Morris gets into hot water for closing too many underfunded high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the most well-funded schools in the state – including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the privileged Bayside kids (who never have a problem that can’t be solved in twenty-two minutes) a much-needed dose of reality."
Whether the “privileged Bayside kids” mentioned above will learn anything from their new classmates or not, we’ll just have to wait and see. Also, it looks like Zack Morris managed to fail his way up into becoming a politician.
Governor? Zack? Ok! It was always pretty cloudy trying to figure out how he graduated high school, much less survived college, so this is just one more “sure, we’ll accept that if we must” for him.
Saved by the Bell trailer
So far, Peacock has released a couple of teasers. Watch the latest video trailer, and be prepared to see a lot of familiar faces.
Bonus: Yes, that’s totally an updated version of “Friends Forever” playing in the background. Who knew Zack Attack would create such a hit that it would get a cover suitable for 2020? Now, that’s a pretty big deal.
