The Mandalorian season 2 gets third best opening weekend, behind The Boys and Stranger Things

The force was strong with The Mandalorian season 2, but not strong enough to get the highest opening weekend for a streaming series.
The Mandalorian on Disney Plus continues to be a fan favorite (if not the most popular series on the streaming service), but season 2 was not strong enough to beat other streaming favorites.
According to Reelgood, a site that ranks streaming shows, movies, and more on popularity and other data, shares that The Mandalorian season 2 was viewed by over 2 million subscribers in the U.S. over the weekend.
These are impressive numbers, but it still doesn’t rank as the highest streaming series debut! Can you guess which shows land in the top 5? Here’s what we know thanks to the source.
The top opening weekends include The Boys season 2 and The Mandalorian season 2
At number five, there’s The Queen’s Gambit season 1 on Netflix, which premiered on Oct. 23, 2020. The series is definitely a hit among subscribers. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on season 2 news. If you haven’t watched it, it’s worth a watch!
Number four is The Mandalorian season 1 (Nov. 15, 2019, debut) and number three is The Mandalorian season 2 (which dropped on Disney Plus on Oct. 30, 2020).
The top two are: Stranger Things season 3 on Netflix from July 5, 2019, and at the top spot is The Boys season 2 on Amazon Prime Video (from Sept. 4, 2020). The Boys is definitely one of the most popular streaming series. I was late to catch up on this one, but quickly binged all the episode just last week!
