Ready for another installment of Chicago P.D.? You’re in luck, friends. We’ll be back in the Windy City before you know it. By the end of the week, in fact.

The hit series will return to NBC on Wednesday, November 11. However, it looks like one of the show’s popular cast members will not be back for the sure-to-be action-packed upcoming season.

Will Vanessa Rojas be in Chicago P.D. season 8?

Unfortunately, actress Lisseth Chavez is moving on after only one season with the series, no longer playing the series’ no-nonsense undercover cop, Officer Vanessa Rojas.

According to Deadline, the talented actress has a new TV gig lined up. Chavez will appear on the upcoming season of The CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. She’ll be joining for season 6, and she’s set to become a regular on the superhero series.

Why did Lisseth Chavez leave Chicago P.D.?

So why did the actress decide to leave Chicago P.D.? Deadline reporter Nellie Andreeva claims that it was rumored the creative team wanted to move on from Vanessa Rojas’ character. The series allegedly decided it was time to go a different direction, wrapping up her storyline. And because COVID-19-related complications cut season 7 of Chicago P.D. shorter than originally planned, Rojas’ storyline was reportedly cut short with it.

But as Deadline reports, the character’s exit will likely be addressed at some point in the upcoming season, if not at the very start of it.

If you haven’t caught up, don’t worry. No spoilers here. But by the end of season 7, it didn’t look like Vanessa Rojas was leaving Chicago P.D. anytime soon. Hopefully when season 8 drops, audiences will find out where she went.

Chicago P.D. premieres November 11 on NBC.
