Can Talon tame a rogue Lu-Qiri on the loose at The Outpost?

With Talon taking over command on The Outpost she’s now facing a lot of hard choices. The CW drama raises the stakes each episode and this time is no exception.

With Queen Rosmund and Tobin Aegisford infected by Yavalla’s Kinj, it is up to Talon to protect The Outpost, save her friends, and find a way to provide safe refuge to those seeking shelter. It’s not an easy task.

To make matters more complicated, there are now mysterious murders happening in The Outpost. Will Talon be able to stop them and restore order to The Outpost before it’s too late?

Talon must tame a rogue Lu-Qiri

As the new commander of The Outpost Talon is already faced with multiple life and death choices, including how to safely let in strangers to The Outpost when Yavalla’s Kinj is being spread much like a plague. It’s something the audience can likely relate to given the state of the world at the moment.

Adding on to Talon’s troubles is a new string of sacrifices of young women. After some investigation, Talon and the others come to believe it’s the work of a cult who worships the Lu-Qiri demons and are feeding the women to them as a sacrifice.

The Lu-Qiri demon in question is Xaba, who was once Yobahn’s Lu-Qiri but has been master-less since his death. According to Zed, Xaba was always vicious and wild and needs to be put down, but Talon wants to try to get through to her.

Believing that Xaba responds to brutality and strength Talon first attempts a heavy-handed approach, but all that manages to do is get her thrown aside as if she was no more than a leaf. As Talon realizes that Xaba was always treated with nothing but cruelty her whole life, she decides she’s going to try a different tactic next time.

At their second meeting, Talon brings Xaba an offering and treats her with kindness and tells her not to be afraid. It might be cheesy but in the best way. And it seems Xaba actually got the message and has chosen to obey Talon as she not only does not feast on Warlita, who has been tied up as a sacrifice for her, she actually chases off the cult members who captured her.

The fact that Xaba controlled herself and chose to listen to Talon gives Talon hope that Xaba can be tamed. Plus, the fact that Talon now owns the ring that can call Xaba seems to imply that Talon might finally have her very own Lu-Qiri! Something a lot of fans have been waiting for since the first season. She is a Blackblood after all.

With Yavalla having spies everywhere, and Gwynn and Tobin on her side, Talon can use all the help she can get. Hopefully, this isn’t the last we see of Xaba as a Lu-Qiri that’s loyal to her is definitely something Talon could use. While it may be hard to believe that Xaba could become loyal to Talon so quickly, now that she is she could be one of their strongest assets.

Also, for those who haven’t heard, you should be aware that starting next week The Outpost will be moving to Sunday nights on The CW, as confirmed by the press release for the next episode. Be sure not to miss it on its new night!
