TV ratings: NCIS: Los Angeles, Supermarket Sweet, and more [Nov. 15]
A breakdown of the live TV ratings for Sunday, Nov. 15
Despite The Crown Season 4 dropping on Netflix, there was still plenty of time to watch broadcast on Sunday, Nov. 15. Here’s a look at how the new episodes of shows fared in the live TV ratings.
FOX had the big afternoon game, while NBC had Sunday Night Football once more. Naturally, the NFL Overrun meant good things for FOX’s Animation Domination, but how would ABC and CBS fare?
More from Ratings
- Thursday TV ratings: Grey’s Anatomy up, Walker Independence down
- Wednesday TV ratings: One Chicago mixed, Kung Fu down (November 9)
- Tuesday TV ratings: The Resident and Monarch down (November 8)
- Monday TV ratings: All American down, Quantum Leap up (Nov. 7)
- Weekend live TV ratings: Fire Country and FBI mixed
Let’s first take a look at Sunday Night Football. It pulled in 15.6 million viewers and a 3.7 demo rating, winning the night. That’s not all too surprising.
Animation Domination ticked up
Unsurprisingly, Animation Domination was up throughout the night due to the NFL Overrun. The Simpsons ticked up 95% in the audience and 71% in the demo, which isn’t that surprising when it comes to episodes after the football.
The whole of Animation Domination was up. This is a great sign for the futures of all shows as they continue to perform well off the back of the NFL. There’s a great chance that all shows will be renewed for the 2021-2022 season.
CBS, ABC, and The CW in the live TV ratings
CBS usually sees downward ticksin the weeks that don’t have the NFL Overrun. That wasn’t the case this week. NCIS: Los Angeles‘s important episode about war crimes was up 33% in the audience and 25% in the demo. Usually, the second episode ticks down after a season premiere, but this year has been very different for all shows.
NCIS: New Orleans didn’t see quite the same results, but there was still some good news. The audience ticked up 8% but the demo was down 16%. The results are iffy, but with so much still hit and miss this year, I don’t think the New Orleans set series in the franchise is going anywhere.
ABC had a mixed night in the live TV ratings. All shows were either steady or up in the demos, with Supermarket Sweep the best up by 14%. All but one show was down in the total audience. America’s Funniest Home Videos was steady in the audience.
Are these worrying figures? Again, it’s an odd year. These aren’t fall shows. Many of them will likely be pushed to the summer to see how they fare there. After all, there’s nothing wrong with having games shows for the summer months.
Pandora didn’t air on Nov. 15. Instead, the second night of the iHeartRadio Music Festival aired, bringing in about the same metrics as the TV series. The difference with iHeartRadio’s festivals is that they cost The CW less so the ratings get to be on the low side.
