The moments on Chicago Fire Season 9, Episode 2 that made us say “WTF!”

Chicago Fire Season 9, Episode 2 started with Firehouse 51 saving a couple of their own. It ended with Ritter putting his life in danger.

It’s time to break down the events from the night. Here are the five biggest WTF moments from the entire episode.

Brett rushing over to save the guy who ran her off the road

More from Drama

The start of the episode picked up where the Chicago Fire Season 9 premiere left us. Ambulance 61 had been run off the road and our paramedics’ lives were in danger.

That didn’t stay that way for long. Brett and Mackey were fine and Casey got there quickly to help them. Really, we knew that was going to happen.

The big WTF moment was Brett rushing over to the car with the guy who ran the ambulance off the road. She immediately got to work saving his life. I’m waiting for Chicago Fire fans to be as annoyed as Outlander fans after Claire did something similar and was slated for it, but it just shows that those who take oaths to save lives take those oaths seriously.

Severide focused on getting Ambulance 61 back

After the crash, Severide spent the episode looking for the ambulance. Was he after the drugs? After all, he once had a drug addiction due to the pain medications for his shoulder.

Nope, it wasn’t a relapse. Severide was looking for something important. The door that has Shay’s name on it. It was necessary for the new ambulance.

Mackey considering quitting already

After just days on the job, Mackie is already thinking of quitting. Granted, she has faced something she never should. A lot has happened in her first shifts.

Brett was sure she would have to find a new paramedic. Cruz even tried to talk to her to prevent her from quitting, but couldn’t seem to get through to her.

In the end, Mackey decided to remain with Firehouse 51. She’s going to give the job another chance.

Ritter risking his life to save another

While Mackey’s life was put in danger in a situation out of her control, Ritter purposely put his life in danger on Chicago Fire Season 9, Episode 2. As the truck passed a station, he saw people calling for help. He raced up to the platform to see an elderly woman had fallen onto the track and bashed her head.

A train was coming, so Ritter had to act fast. He jumped down to get her, putting his own life at risk.

Fortunately, Herrmann wasn’t too far behind. The two of them got the woman off the track, and Ritter was safe. Will this come up later? Probably not because most of them would have done the same thing and they know it.

Brett and Casey hooking up

Throughout the episode, there were a lot of awkward moments between Brett and Casey. Brett felt she’d told Casey that she loved him by saying “it’s always you.”

Whether that gave it all away or not, Casey turned up at Brett’s apartment to talk to her, and they ended up making out.

Don’t get too happy about this just yet. Brett needed to know if Casey would leave with Gabby if Gabby turned up asking Casey to run away from her. Casey couldn’t answer that. I respect his honesty like Brett, but it did mean Brett wasn’t going any further with this relationship.
