A breakdown of the live TV ratings on broadcast on Tuesday, Nov. 17

The TV crime dramas returned to CBS on Tuesday, Nov. 17. ABC brought a new one of its own and NBC continued with the fall lineup of the last few weeks. It’s time to breakdown the live TV ratings for the night.

Everything was new throughout the night. We’re finally getting things back to normal on TV. However, just as a word of warning, that’s the last This Is Us episode until 2021. Episode 6 only started filming today.

CBS’s TV crime dramas return

For CBS, it was a big night. Its biggest shows returned, but how would they perform in the live TV ratings?

All three were down compared to their previous premieres. That’s all standard and nothing to worry about. However, FBI and FBI: Most Wanted were on the low side in both metrics.

More from Ratings

NCIS Season 18 premiere won the night in the audience, pulling in 10.06 million viewers. The demo was down at 0.9 though, behind The Voice and The Bachelorette.

Right now, these figures aren’t anything to be concerned about. CBS will want to see where they remain throughout the season. They are among the top-rated dramas for the network though, and all won their timeslots in the audience.

Everything else in the live TV ratings

The Bachelorette and The Voice went up against NCIS in the 8/7c slot. For The Bachelorette, it was a little bad news. Bth the audience and demo were down in double figures, but the demo was the best of the whole night at 1.3.

The Voice had the second-best audience and third-best demo. They were relatively steady compared to the previous Tuesday episode. There’s little to worry about these two shows.

We already know This Is Us is renewed for a sixth and final sason, but it’s worth noting that the demo was second-best behind The Bachelorette at 1.2. Would the numbers hold for Transplant? Sadly not. Both demo and audience were down in double figures, pulling in last place in the timeslot.

Transplant is a cheaper show for NBC, though. It licenses the show from Canada, so there’s still a good chance that the second season will be acquired. It’s already renewed by CTV.

Swamp Thing dropped again and while Tell Me a Story ticked up, it was still in last place overall. It’s unlikely The CW will save both shows from cancellation.

What about the newest series on broadcast? Big Sky premiered on ABC behind The Bachelorette. The timeslot is a hard one, but would it perform well?

It’s mixed, right now. It matched FBI: Most Wanted‘s demo of 0.6, which was more than half of The Bachelorette‘s demo. It didn’t lose a huge amount of the total audience the reality show offered, though. At 4.03 million, it wasn’t too bad for the current ratings we’ve seen on TV. We’ll need to see how the new TV crime drama steadies in the coming weeks.
