5 WTF moments from Grey’s Anatomy Season 17, Episode 3
The 5 moments on Grey’s Anatomy Season 17, Episode 3 that made us say “WTF!”
Caution: There are major spoilers for Grey’s Anatomy Season 17, Episode 3 if you haven’t seen the episode yet.
We got answers to why Meredith was seeing Derek on a beach at the end of the Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 two-hour premiere. That reveal brought us some major WTF moments, and it’s time to break down the five biggest.
The big reveal at the start confirmed our suspicions. Meredith has the coronavirus, which isn’t that surprising considering the number of patients she was around. She’s not the only doctor to have caught it, either. Let’s get into the 5 WTF moments from Grey’s Anatomy Season 17, Episode 3.
Meredith isn’t alone with Derek
As Meredith passed out, she crossed over to a beach and saw Derek again. Every time she tried to run to him, she was pulled back to the start point. Derek says she’s still holding onto the kids, and surely that’s a good thing. A good mom isn’t going to want to leave her children without her, even if she does have two sisters who are looking out for them.

However, it turns out Meredith isn’t alone with Derek on the beach. Derek says there’s someone else there. We won’t get to find out until next week, but the top guess if George considering T.R. Knight’s IMDb profile has him listed for a 2020 episode. Many fans are hoping for Lexie, though.
Alex is still Meredith’s person
Bailey comes in to see Meredith about her directives. Most importantly it’s about her POA, her person.
If something happens and Meredith can’t make a decision for herself, she needs someone to make the hard choices for her. Alex is the one who can do that, so she still has him listed. The problem is Alex is states away and making those choices over the phone is difficult.
Bailey wants her to choose someone closer. She acknowledges that Maggie and Amelia aren’t good people for this task, but Meredith needs to switch Alex out with someone else.
Koracick has COVID-19
Meredith isn’t the only one with COVID-19. Owen turns up at the end of the episode to see Koracick, who has been absolutely terrible at teaching the new interns.
It turns out Koracick has COVID-19. Of course, Tom says he doesn’t have symptoms, but we all know that there are a lot of asymptomatic people out there. The test has come back positive and Koracick needs to quarantine for 14 days.
Will the virus spread around all the doctors now? It’s not like they’ve all been that vigilante with their masks, especially Teddy around Koracick.
Webber is training the new interns
With Tom out, Webber is back in on Grey’s Anatomy Season 17.
Well, Webber had given Tom the job to train the new interns because of Amelia’s words about how great a teacher Tom was for her. The problem is that was teaching surgeons how to be neurosurgeons. His students at least knew how to put PPE equipment on properly. Tom is useless in the middle of a pandemic when it comes to teaching interns.
Webber is the intern whisperer. He’s the one who will take over the job, and I have high hopes for at least one of the new interns.
McWidow offers to be Meredith’s person
During the episode, McWidow heard that Meredith needed a POA. He offers himself to do the job, and he could have been a great choice. While he doesn’t know Meredith, she could write everything down. He doesn’t yet have the connection to Meredith to put emotion into it. Although, I feel like that’s going to change soon and I adore McWidow.
In the end, Meredith chose someone else. It was Webber. He’s the one that knows her best.
It only seems fitting. After all, Meredith was the one that Webber chose for his needs, even if she didn’t make the choice he thought he wanted at the time.
