A breakdown of the live TV ratings for broadcast on Thursday, Nov. 19

Thursday, Nov. 19 was a big night for broadcast, and the live TV ratings showed it. The networks had a full night of new content, bar The CW, which didn’t air a new episode of The Outpost. Instead, The CW aired the Supernatural series finale following a special to commemorate and say goodbye to the series.

It’s time to take a look at the live TV ratings for the night. FOX had Thursday Night Football, which won the night in both the audience and demo. That’s not surprising at all.

More from Ratings

Supernatural: The Long Road Home didn’t perform all that well in the audience, with just 0.12 million tuning in. These specials can be hit and miss, but the fans that it was made for adored it.

The Supernatural series finale pulled in a season-high in the audience at 1.39 million, ticking up almost 40% from the previous episode. In fact, it was the highest audience since Season 14, Episode 19, titled “Jack in the Box.” The demo remained steady from the previous episode at 0.3.

ABC, CBS, and NBC in the live TV ratings

How did the rest of the networks perform? ABC saw dips in all three shows, including the return of A Million Little Things.

The third season premiere ticked down 32% in the demo and 20% in the audience compared to the Season 2 premiere. It’s worth paying attention to the finale since the timeslots for the two premieres were different, and that does have an effect on live ratings. The demo numbers were steady between finale and premiere. The audience figures were slightly down, but not too much.

The dips aren’t that concerning just yet. The audience was still above the middle point of Season 2, so there is some hope if the figures can stabilize quickly.

CBS had a mixed night with Young SheldonMom, and The Unicorn all dipping slightly in the total audience. The dips are nothing to worry about right now as the shows are still performing well enough up against other shows. Young Sheldon still won the night in the audience outside of the football.

CBS will be happy about B Positive, the new comedy that was up 20% in the demo and almost 5% in the total audience. It’s a great start to the series.

And NBC? Superstore was down 5% in the audience but steady in the demo. The series is still stabilizing after America Ferrera’s exit, so we’ll still give this some time.

While Dateline was down by 24% in the audience and 25% in the demo, I don’t think we have anything to worry about. It’s become a staple on the network and tends to have highs and lows each week depending on the topic.
