With several classic TV shows seeing reboots and remakes more than ever right now, it would be a no-brainer for BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey to make a comeback. The hilarious program ran from 2007 to 2010, and had two Christmas specials, the most recent of which debuted in 2019.

It’s safe to assume Gavin and Stacey is likely far from over, and now the BBC is weighing in on the show coming back for more. At this point, who doesn’t want to see James Corden and Ruth Jones reprise their iconic roles?

Is Gavin and Stacey series 4 happening?

As reported by Lad Bible, Charlotte Moore from the BBC explained that unfortunately, a Christmas special for the show was not ever in the works for 2020. However, she did tease that another project from the dynamic duo will happen at some point. “That wasn’t something that was going to happen this year,” she said, adding, “One day.”

So it looks like nothing official is in production yet, however fans could very well see Gavin and Stacey series 4, or another holiday special in the future. Who knows, it could even be a different kind of special. The possibilities are endless!

As for Corden and Jones, they spoke with Metro earlier this year (per Hello! Magazine), where they teased a future for the show when discussing the most recent Christmas special’s success. They said:

"It’s mind-blowing that so many people watched our show – we still can’t get our heads around it, what a massive compliment. We are indebted to the BBC for their incredible support but most importantly to those 18.5 million viewers for watching. We just hope one day we can let them know what Smithy said next."

It appears that fans, the BBC, and the show’s creators are all down for more Gavin and Stacey, so the question just remains of when. With COVID-19 shutting down productions all over the world in 2020, many shows have been delayed and put on hold. While some sets have resumed filming recently, the danger still remains.

All we can do is hope that we’ll get more Gavin and Stacey sooner than later! We’ll keep you updated on any new updates.
