A breakdown of the broadcast live TV ratings on Monday, Nov. 23

As Dancing With the Stars crowned another winner, the Gilmore Girls revival got its first airing on a linear network. It’s time to break down the live TV ratings for Monday, Nov. 23.

Everything was new except for The CW’s special. Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life started with its winter episode, and it didn’t perform all that badly on the network considering most viewers will have seen it on Netflix already. It pulled in 0.48 million viewers, which is more than some of the new episodes of CW shows have pulled in recently.

Dancing with the Stars and The Voice go head-to-head

More from Ratings

As has been the tradition for the last few MondaysNBC and ABC went head-to-head with their reality programs. Dancing With the Stars crowned a new winner at the end of the night, and it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that both the audience and demo rating were up from the previous episode.

The demo matched The Voice, which was down in both metrics. Dancing With the Stars wouldn’t quite be enough to beat the 6.82 million viewers tuning in for The Voice, but it did come in second with its 6.07 million viewers.

ABC would beat NBC in the third hour of the night with The Good Doctor, which was up 2% to 4.4 million views. The Weakest Link was up 3% but not enough to win.

While ABC claimed the top spot in the demo in the third hour, Bull gained 25% in the demo and 2% in the total audience. The tick up kept Bull in the top spot in the audience for the hour.

All shows are likely safe for another season.

A mixed night for comedy and drama in the live TV ratings

How would CBS do throughout the rest of the night? It was mixed for its shows. While The Neighborhood remained steady in the demo, it was down 8% in the total audience to come in third throughout the night.

Bob Hearts Abishola was down in both metrics, with the demo down by 14% and the audience down by 9%. All Rise remained steady in the demo but was down 6% in the total audience.

Are these metrics something to worry about? I wouldn’t say so right now. The shows still performed well in their timeslots, and it has been a rough year. CBS will likely want to see how the rest of the episodes for 2020 perform and how things pick back up at the start of 2021.
