It is with a heavy heart that fans of Heavy D learned today of his passing. The Celebrity Big Brother alum, who appeared on series 18 of the competition show in 2016, was only 47 years old.

Heavy D, real name Colin Newell, was known for his catchphrase “Boom!,” and frequently used it in videos and messages over the years. He even had the nickname of “The Boominator.” You might also recognize him for his stints on Storage Hunters UK and more recently Judge Rinder.

According to Sky News, actor and Heavy D’s friend Nick Nevern broke the news of his passing today. Reportedly, the reality star had gone missing, and was noticeably quiet on social media for a few weeks.

Nevern, known for his roles in shows like Motherland and Prime Suspect 1973, took to social media to share the upsetting announcement. He tweeted:

"I’m very shocked & saddened to hear of the passing of my friend @HeavyHeavyd u lived ur life the way u wanted to & f**k anyone who didn’t like it! U always brought a smile to my face bro & lifted any room you where in."

Following Nevern’s post, Heavy D’s ex-fiancé also took a moment to mourn her loss on social media. As reported by the Mirror, Bryony Harris, with whom Newell shared one daughter, shared a series of heartfelt photos, which included selfies and sweet shots.

Harris penned in her caption:

"I loved him so much we had a lot of love for each other aswell as so much hate! we have a child together and he did love her but things happen! I’m so sorry Colin rest I’m peace you silly man."
