Is Mom Season 8 new on Thanksgiving?

Against all odds, Mom Season 8 premiered on CBS in the midst of a pandemic and without one of its co-leading stars. But in spite of its challenges, the veteran sitcom is shaping up to air one of its strongest seasons yet. Will there be a new episode this Thursday, which happens to be Thanksgiving?

While we’ve grown accustomed to having Mom back in our lives, Season 8 will briefly pause for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, Nov. 26. CBS will not air a new episode of Mom Season 8. Even though some networks are holding the returns of their fall shows until 2021, CBS won’t follow suit. Bonnie and the gang will be back on Dec. 3 with an all-new episode.

NBC series like This Is Us and Superstore began their latest runs alongside Mom, but are now taking the rest of the year off. Thankfully, Mom Season 8 circles back after the holiday for two more new episodes before signing off for 2020, providing us with plenty of laughs to hold onto. Despite saying goodbye to a beloved character, the sitcom remains one of the brightest spots on television.

How has Mom Season 8 been without Christy?

Ahead of Season 8, Anna Faris announced that she would not return to Mom as Christy Plunkett in order to pursue other opportunities. There’s no bad blood between Faris and the series, and Christy remains an integral part of the show, even if she’s off on the East Coast in law school. Through conversation and phone calls, Christy’s presence has still been felt.

Some fans probably worried how the dynamic of the series would shift in the absence of the character that ultimately made the show’s title of Mom make sense. However, the chemistry of the cast and the connection between the characters hasn’t been affected at all. In fact, in losing a co-lead, the strength of the series has only been highlighted — though we all wish Faris was still a member of the café crew.

When we last left Mom Season 8, Bonnie learned the truth about meeting your heroes when she crossed paths with a rock star she had the hots for in the ’80s. We’ll next catch up with the gang in Dec. 3’s all-new episode titled “Astronauts and Fat Trimmings” and Dec. 17’s all-new episode titled “Sober Wizard and a Woodshop Workshop.” Who else can’t wait to learn what those titles refer to?
