3 things we hope happens on Slasher Season 4
Slasher has become an indie-horror gem after being housed by Netflix for three seasons, leaving its cult following eager for even more carnage. The first season brought on small-town history, the second was a secret between friends, the third was a morally corrupt apartment complex, and now we have a fourth season coming to Shudder that’s enlisting a wealthy family on a private island retreat. Consider us very interested…
So what could help the next season continue to maintain its title as a true genre title?
Another memorable protagonist

The third season of Slasher was the first to really introduce a protagonist that you were intended to root for. The climatic revelations in the final chapters of Slasher: Solstice actually created tension around the fate of Saadia and even though the first two seasons did give us characters to root for, they found a lot of great ways to progress with season three by changing patterns.
Regardless of whether it’s an arrogant socialite whose cold demeanor helps her maintain her sanity or someone with a mysterious secret that makes it hard to determine their involvement, if Slasher continues to shift their protagonist’s qualities to avoid any stale depictions, this could be a very interesting setting to follow.
Harper’s Island Upgrades
If you like horror or murder-mysteries, there’s a good chance you have heard of the limited series Harper’s Island. The CBS one-season event took a group of family and friends to an island getaway wedding where there also happened to be a string of murders.
The series consisted of several red herrings and smart misleads, eventually kicking into a finale that while executed well, fell short in terms of plot. The premise for Slasher: Flesh and Blood has a wealthy family on an island, and as a slasher title, we know there will be ambiguity.
If Slasher can use Harper’s Island as a reference and fix the fatal endgame errors like killing off Trish over Abby or making the Jimmy and Abby romance a major focal point, then there’s a good chance we could see a different take on another underrated gem.
A permanent home with Shudder
Slasher is a very rare horror title in a time where genre content appears to be endless. There are virtually zero slasher series, and when it comes to horror it’s mainly limited to American Horror Story or Stranger Things which are a lot less horror-themed than intended. The series that has landed scares such as Ju-on: Origins and Marianne have missed the acclaim they deserved, and are tragically short-lived.
Shudder totes itself as the undisputed champion of horror content, so this could be the perfect home to a title that has held on due to a dedicated fandom. Slasher has given viewers three seasons of horror that shows consistent improvement and evolving concepts, making each season more exciting. Most ongoing horror series typically have the opposite effect, so the choice to nab this beloved series is a superb decision for Shudder to appease real horror lovers.
Slasher: Flesh and Blood is currently in production without an official release date.
