Elyse: Where to stream the Anthony Hopkins movie
By FS staff
An overview of upcoming psychological thriller Elyse
In the mood for a mind bending movie? Well, we might have just the ticket. Sir Anthony Hopkins stars as his wife makes her directorial debut with Elyse, reports IndieWire. And you won’t want to miss this one. The question is, where and when can we stream it?
More on that in a minute.
In this upcoming psychological thriller, Stella Hopkins claims she pulled from her own family life as she dove deep into the unraveling and unquiet mind of her main character. As noted by the publication, the Colombian filmmaker’s artistic aim was to combine the real-life personal elements with fictional storytelling in an effort to speak “to even those who have not had their own encounters with mental illness.”
In an interview about the film, Stella revealed to IndieWire, “The most challenging component of the subject matter was being mindful to appropriately convey the clinical complexities of mental illness.” She goes on to say that It was “rewarding” to reference the deeply personal aspects and “painful history in a creative narrative.”
Speaking of personal touches, not only does Anthony Hopkins star in the first-time filmmaker’s project, he apparently composed the score as well. However, this is not the first time the award-winning actor has composed the full score for a film. As noted by The National News, Sir Hopkins, jack of all cinema trades, previously composed the scores for both August and Slip Stream. And he’s pretty good at it.
