5 Christmas songs from films that are sure to bring you the holiday spirit

Christmas season is here! Time to get out the mistletoe, Christmas decorations, and all of the fun that comes with decorating for the holidays. Not only that, but it is a perfectly acceptable time to begin belting out those holiday tunes. There are so many fun Christmas songs to listen to for the holiday season. From “Jingle Bell Rock” to “Silent Night,” we could listen to them all day.

There are so many great tunes for this season, especially ones that are in movies. Of course, you can always find classic Christmas music in movies, but there are just some songs that stick with you since the first time you heard it. Whether written for the film or featured as part of a scene, these songs just fill us with joy whenever we hear them.

Let’s see some of the top five Christmas songs from movies, whether from television or film.

5. “Heart of Christmas” by Vanessa Williams

We know the classic A Christmas Carole has been told for generations. The story of Ebenezer Scrooge has been adapted in so many different ways and this one is no different.

In the 2000 film A Diva’s Christmas Carole, Williams stars as Ebony, a singer whose ego has caused her to lose her Christmas spirit. Besides telling the tale in a modern setting, it also is full of amazing songs. This includes “Heart of Christmas,” which just allows Williams to shine and leave this song playing in our heads.

4. “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee

No Christmas movie collection is complete without Home Alone. In one such scene, Kevin is playing around at home while this classic tune plays in the background. It’s a fun song to get up and dance to.

3. “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey

This popular Christmas song appears in the 2003 film Love, Actually sung by one of the characters and is a favorite to belt out. While the 1994 song was originally written for Carey’s Christmas album, it has spawned many covers and is a hit season after season. Actress Olivia Olson, who plays Joanna in Love, Actually, sings this song, bringing her own flare to the popular tune.

2. “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” by Judy Garland

While Meet Me In St. Louis is not necessarily a Christmas movie, this song does appear and any song by Judy Garland is bound to send chills down your spine. This is a song that is always featured during the holiday season and the slow tempo just puts you in a calm zone in the midst of holiday preparations.

1. “Where Are You Christmas?” by Trisha Yearwood

Originally written by Mariah Carey, Will Jennings, and James Horner, this song is featured in Jim Carey’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The song also appears in the film, sung by little Cindy Lou Who and there is also a music video in which Yearwood appears. A personal favorite, this song is one of those that will no doubt settle itself in your brain this holiday season.
