Virgin River season 2: Can Charmaine be trusted?

Virgin River season 2 leaves us all with many questions, let’s focus on Charmaine and Jack.
Please note: There are significant spoilers ahead. If you have not watched Virgin River season 2 on Netflix yet, know that spoilers follow. Finish binging all of the episodes before reading on.
Before anything else, let’s give it up for Lauren Hammersley! She does an amazing job portraying Jack’s (Martin Henderson) former lover, Charmaine. After all, we wouldn’t passionately dislike Charmaine if Hammersley wasn’t putting on a fabulous performance.
Let’s be honest, we want Charmaine out of Jack and Mel’s (Alexandra Breckenridge) way. But it wouldn’t be a drama series without her. Whether we like it or not (at least, for now), Charmaine is here to add some spice and drama!
We do have one major concern, though, we don’t trust her claim that she is carrying Jack’s children. Initially, I didn’t believe Charmaine was pregnant at all! But Mel herself checked her out and, what do you know, it turns out she is carrying twins! Wow.
Feeling uneasy about it? Same.
Virgin River season 2: Is Jack really the father of Charmaine’s twins?
As you may already know, the series is based on books by Robyn Carr. There are a ton of them, which means the show may go on for several seasons (which I’m completely okay with). But what do the pages have to say about Charmaine and Jack?

Now, remember, not everything in the series happens just as it does in the books. That said, in the books, the babies are not Jack’s.
Has Virgin River season 2 copied the pages? I’m not sure! It does seem a little too convenient for Charmaine to be pregnant just as Jack was hitting it off with Mel. My guess is that the twins are not Jack’s or she will suffer a miscarriage, which honestly I don’t wish for her, I would rather the children not be Jack’s.
