When is The Expanse ending?

What’s going on with the fate of the popular series The Expanse? Good question. As reported by Business Insider, Amazon Prime Video already saved The Expanse from cancellation once before. The streaming service was ultimately able to keep the hit show going for a little longer, getting it renewed it for its fourth and now fifth season. Season 6 has also been announced as well.

Flash forward to 2020, and fans are eager to know if the stellar series which originally premiered on SyFy will get the chance to continue beyond season six. If you haven’t tuned in yet, let’s briefly go over the plot for this one first.

What is The Expanse about?

"In the 24th century, a disparate band of antiheroes unravel a vast conspiracy that threatens the Solar System’s fragile state of cold war."

Is The Expanse season 7 happening?

Sadly,The Expanse is coming to an end somewhat soon. Season 5 is premiering on December 17, 2020, and brace yourself–the will only be one more season afterwards.

According to Screen Rant, Amazon hasn’t provided an official reason for ending the popular series with season 6, but it definitely seems a bit abrupt for those who’ve been fans since the beginning. As noted by the publication, there are nine books the series “roughly” follows, and many more to go. Or so we thought.

Although we thankfully still have two more seasons to watch before saying goodbye, it’s still disappointing to know that an end is in sight. With that said, there’s no time like the present to start binging before the new season drops next week.
