The Gallaghers are back! The Shameless Season 11 premiere took audiences back to the South Side to see how this dysfunctional family is moving forward despite the pandemic.

Lip had a few money-saving dad tricks up his sleeve, Ian became an essential worker, Debbie started a new business, Carl managed to secure a spot as a Chicago police officer, and Kev & V found a way to create more profit at The Alibi despite shut-downs — all in a truly shameless style of course.

Steve Howey, who plays fan-favorite Kevin Ball on the series, took to Twitter during the premiere to share behind the scenes photos and videos of what it was like to return to set after the coronavirus delays.

Almost every episode of Shameless has brought us into this bar, but many might be surprised to see what the full set looks like on the soundstage in Burbank. Most television and film sets don’t have ceilings added because of lighting and air conditioning, but there’s something extra emotional about seeing an empty Alibi set as the series begins airing its final season.

In the Shameless Season 11 premiere, one of the major scenes between Mickey and Ian in was a more serious conversation about their navigating their new marriage. Ian wanted to set some clear rules and boundaries about how the two of them would handle decisions about their future as they sat together outside of the Gallagher house.

Thanks to the online Twitter watch party, we also got a behind-the-scenes look at what this moment was like to film with Cameron Monaghan and Noel Fisher.

Shameless fans were also teased with an epic season trailer after the premiere, and it gave us insight to new stories we did not see coming (which are always the best kinds). The task of “making the South Side dangerous again” is in full swing as they work to prevent additional gentrification in the neighborhood.

But we also learned more about Ian and Mickey’s new security company, Frank’s talent for making edibles, and how Franny and the twins will go up against each other in the Little Miss Southside competition. Oh, and Liam and Franny are both getting their hands on guns this season — so everything’s clearly going really well. Check out the latest trailer below.
