TV ratings: NCIS, Big Sky, The Bachelorette, and more down

Here’s a look at the TV ratings for broadcast on Tuesday, Dec. 8

Depending on the game and the network, football can certainly disrupt the live TV ratings for a night. That was the case on Tuesday, Dec. 8.

FOX aired a one-off Tuesday Night Football, pulling in 10.33 million viewers and a demo rating of 2.8. The two metrics were the best of the night, but it had a knock-on effect for all networks.

Because all networks were affected, the main shows shouldn’t be too concerned. The focus will be on how well they performed despite mostly double-digit dips. That doesn’t stop us being disappointed with the dips.

CBS TV crime dramas are likely safe

There’s no reason for NCISFBI, and FBI: Most Wanted to worry too much. The three shows remain among the most popular for the entire network, despite all three facing double-digit dips in both metrics. NCIS still won the night in the audience in the original programming, with FBI second.

ABC’s shows are also likely safe. The Bachelorette was only down by 4% in both metrics, winning the night in the demo out of the original programming.

Big Sky did drop by 16% in the audience and 28% in the demo, but that’s not to worry about. Just recently, the series has had six extra episodes added to the first season. It’s a strong sign that the show will be picked up for a second season.

NBC two-hour finale in the live TV ratings

NBC started with a new episode of The Voice, which dipped 9% in the audience and 12% in the demo compared to the previous Tuesday episode. It’s still nothing to be concerned about, but NBC will eventually need to consider if something about the format needs to change to add a little more excitement to the series.

The two-hour finale of Transplant then aired. It was the only show to see an upward tick in the audience, gaining 10% in the first hour. However, that increase and more was lost in the second hour.

There is still a chance for NBC to pick up the second season of the series, which has already been confirmed by CTV in Canada.
