British TV host Phillip Schofield came out as gay back in February 2020, and now Graham Norton is coming forward with a theory regarding a potential “secret boyfriend” of Phil’s.

The 58-year-old This Morning presenter took to Instagram earlier this year to let the public know that he is gay. In a statement, Schofield shared:

"Today, quite rightly, being gay is a reason to celebrate and be proud. Yes, I am feeling pain and confusion, but that comes only from the hurt that I am causing to my family."

Phillip Schofield has been married to Stephanie Lowe since 1999, and together they share two children: 24-year-old Ruby Lowe and 27-year-old Molly Lowe. Despite his marriage to Lowe, Schofield moved out of the family home when he came out as gay.

And now, the Graham Norton Show host is claiming that Schofield must be in a relationship with someone else.

According to the Daily Mail, Graham Norton was a guest on Chris Evans’ podcast How to Wow, where he speculated that Schofield likely has a secret relationship with a man. Opening up about his own experience coming out and hiding a secret, Norton said:

"I imagine Pip has some secret boyfriend squirrelled away somewhere. I’m sure he has. I don’t know Pip. I don’t know why I’m calling him Pip. I remember what it was like keeping that secret when I was a kid. To keep that secret for presumably 30, 40 years, what that does to you. It’s so strange."

Norton continued on with:

"When I didn’t know, I didn’t know, because I didn’t know what it was. I wasn’t aware of sexuality or the spectrum of sexuality, I didn’t understand you could be attracted to different people. But I guess as you get older you’ve got more of a vocabulary for all of that stuff so you should be able to name things. But there are no rules."

Last month, as reported by the Daily Mail, Schofield opened up about his marriage to Lowe after coming out. While speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, he revealed that he hadn’t considered getting a divorce, explaining:

"We are a work in progress. I’ve been very honest about all of this and there’s no question, we have to pick our way through this daily as a family."

We’re sure this year has been quite the learning process for Schofield, Lowe, and their children, as they try to navigate their family dynamic. As for a secret relationship, we’re not here to report false news nor to judge. All Graham Norton is doing is speculating about Schofield based on his on experience, so we cannot say for sure that there’s any truth to his claims.
