If you’re a fan of either Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsay, you’ll likely know they were in a pretty messy feud for years. The two British chefs have been in the spotlight for a long time because of their cooking skills, restaurants, and television shows, and at one point they were even close friends.

However, things took a turn all the way back in 2009, as reported by the Mirror, which really set the drama in motion.

How did Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver’s feud begin?

After Gordon Ramsay made a rude comment about a female reporter’s appearance, Jamie Oliver hit back in defense of the reporter. Ramsay said of the Australian woman, according to The Guardian:

"That’s Tracy Grimshaw. I had an interview with her yesterday, holy crap. She needs to see Simon Cowell’s Botox doctor."

Soon after, Oliver spoke with The Sun (per the Mirror), stating in regards to Ramsay’s dig:

"Aussies aren’t forgiving. Once you’re gone, you’re gone… It’s never good to criticise a woman, especially when they’re loved by their country and you do it on national television."

And that’s when the rift between the two cooks began! After that, as reported by Mashed, Gordon Ramsay did not hold anything back when throwing shade at his former friend. He even insulted Oliver’s restaurant while speaking with TMZ in 2010.

The two had gone back and forth with their criticism and nastiness for years, up until 2019.

That year, Oliver’s selection of chain restaurants went under, which was seemingly the catalyst for him and Ramsay to forgive and forget. When Ramsay was a guest on The Jonathan Ross Show in October 2019, he confirmed that he did reach out to Oliver when he heard the unfortunate news.

The Hell’s Kitchen star admitted that Oliver losing his restaurants was “devastating.”

We’re glad to see Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay have buried the hatchet, and it’s interesting to see that their feud began with The Naked Chef star simply defending a woman.
