Maggie and Jamie say they just want to be friends with benefits on A Million Little Things Season 3 winter finale

While there are many out there who would love to see Gary and Maggie back together on A Million Little Things, it looks like the writers are heading in another direction. As Gary’s relationship with Darcy continues, Maggie is hooking up on the other side of the pond.

She and Jamie currently both agree that they want to be friends with benefits. That works as long as both remain on the same page. But this is a drama. We all know that friends with benefits usually become something more. The question is whether both will start to have feelings for one another and want more or if only one of them wants it.

Jamie has opened up with Maggie more than anyone

From the second episode, we learned Jamie’s reason for his hatred of therapists. Then in the winter finale of A Million Little Things Season 3, we learned about his marriage. He and his ex get along but they wanted different things. He only realized that after the wedding.

It’s clear that Jamie feels comfortable with Maggie. He’s opened up to her in ways that he has never before, but is this really the start of a relationship? Is it just the start of a strong friendship? After all, Rome opened up to Maggie in a way he never did to others, albeit becoming one of her official patients and not just as a friend.

Others have also opened up to Maggie in ways they wouldn’t with anyone else. She is the therapist for the group, although they don’t purposely treat her that way. She’s just a great person who actively listens and helps.

It’s no wonder Jamie feels comfortable with her, but it could indicate that he’s already starting to feel something more than friends with benefits.

Maggie will eventually go back home, right?

Maggie is only in Oxford for a year. She’s eventually going to head back home on A Million Little Things. It looks like she’s back in Boston in the winter premiere, just as the coronavirus pandemic hits in the show.

This could throw a huge spanner in the works for a Maggie and Jamie relationship. Even if it doesn’t, there are other questions to ask. Would Jamie want to give up his whole life to move to Boston? Would Maggie want to give up Boston to remain in Oxford?

Someone has to make a sacrifice when it comes to relationships with people from different countries. Both people in the relationship have to be happy with that sacrifice. If they’re not then things just aren’t going to work and there ends up being a lot of resentment.

So, the two are going to have to discuss this if their feelings change.

Maggie may still have feelings for Gary on A Million Little Things

Based on conversations earlier in the season, it looks like Maggie still has feelings for Gary. She wanted to be back with him before leaving for Oxford, but Gary wants to give his relationship with Darcy a chance.

And I can’t bring myself to hate Darcy to want Gary to break up with her and get back with Maggie. Actually, I really love Darcy and want to see her stick around.

But if Maggie does return home, her feelings for Gary could go stronger. It could lead to problems between Gary and Darcy and end up with Gary and Maggie getting back together. Would fans complain too much about that?

It’s certainly going to be an interesting storyline when the show returns in March 2021.
