When does the CBS series All Rise return in 2021?

All Rise has hit its winter hiatus and won’t be returning until next year, but fans of the sophomore show won’t have to wait too long. All Rise will take a few weeks off and return on January 4, 2021.

The CBS series has embraced the COVID restrictions and is set in a world where COVID is rampant. The actors have been wearing masks, social distancing, and using plexiglass where possible. While the virus isn’t a big part of the main storyline, you can’t miss it because it is right in your face.

The show didn’t end its winter break with a cliffhanger but there are questions that need to be answered when the series returns.

What has happened on All Rise?

Judge Lola Carmichael is pregnant and looks fairly close to when her child should be born. When it returns, it’s likely she will be fairly close to her the baby’s due date.

Everyone has been really tough on her too. Lola has the weight of the justice system, her own personal issues with her marriage, COVID, and bringing a black child into the world. This is important because All Rise has not shied away from social justice causes and race has played a major role in many of the episodes, including the latest one where a man took a plea despite being not guilty because of the lack of trust in the justice system due to the color of his skin.

When can we expect in All Rise Season 2?

Carmichael hasn’t been afraid to mix it up and tell her colleagues how she feels. However, Season 2 has felt a bit more like an ensemble cast without a huge focus on her. Instead, we check in on the lives of those around the courthouse.

Emily has been pushing her friends away due to her tunnel vision. Mark is fighting to right a wrong. Everyone on the show is dealing with their own issues that it’s been hard to see the friendships that were a highlight of the first season. That’s been one of the issues with the COVID restrictions is that there isn’t that cohesiveness that we felt last season.

We will see what happens next when All Rise returns on January 4, 2021 — and if the ratings can go higher to bring it back for another season.
