Looking for a gripping thriller with some very timely themes throughout? Then you’ll probably want to stream American Dream when it drops next month! I know I will.

Reported by Collider, American Dream is directed by Oscar-winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski, best known for his work on major Steven Spielberg films like Saving Private Ryan and Schindler’s List.

While American Dream is certainly a big moment in his movie making career, it’s not the famed cinematographer’s first director’s credit. American Dream will mark Kaminski’s third feature film, having made his true directorial debut with the 2000 film Lost Souls, which starred Winona Ryder and Ben Chaplin.

After that, Kaminski went on to direct the well-received and critically acclaimed 2007 Polish drama Hania. When it came out, Rotten Tomatoes called Hania “a beautiful-looking film with accomplished performances all around.” Flash forward to 2020, and it looks American Dream could hit similar high marks with critics as Kaminski steadily becomes more and more known as an extremely talented director-cinematographer.

While we wait for it to premiere, let’s take a closer look at his latest movie and find out when and where we can watch it. But first, here’s the plot.

What is American Dream about?

Lionsgate says the upcoming crime thriller is ultimately about “the brutal struggle for success” of two brothers, played by Luke Bracey (Holidate) and Michiel Huisman (The Flight Attendant), trying to make it in America by any means necessary.

The official synopsis reads:

"Desperate for cash, entrepreneurs Scott (Luke Bracey) and Nicky (Michiel Huisman) turn to Russian mobster Yuri (Nick Stahl). After they refuse the funding he offers, Yuri gets revenge by trying to take over their construction project. The partners are terrified until Nicky’s tough Russian girlfriend Ana decides to take action herself."
