It looks like both Mrs. Brown’s Boys star Brendan O’Carroll and the BBC are in major hot water. The famous comedian and the UK network might be facing legal action and are in danger of damaging their reputation after accusations have been made against them regarding pay.

According to the Mirror, the 65-year-old actor, who is known best for playing Agnes Brown in the long-running comedy show, is being sued by his former co-star, Gary Hollywood. Hollywood, 41, played Dino Doyle until leaving the show earlier this year. He had been part of Mrs. Brown’s Boys since the original series began back in 2004.

Reportedly, Hollywood is taking legal action against O’Carroll and the BBC for alleged workplace discrimination and unfair pay. He recently spoke with The Daily Star, where he explained:

"I feel I wasn’t being paid equally and I wasn’t being given an explanation for decisions. When I tried to resolve it, nothing was done. I was just disregarded. But I won’t put up with it any more. I won’t be treated like that. This has gone too far. They shouldn’t do this to people. I am taking legal action. The papers have been lodged for a tribunal and the process has now started."

The actor says he was not paid as much as some of his other co-stars, and apparently he believes that he was not part of the 2020 Christmas special because he spoke up and asked about the alleged pay gap.

In the same interview, Hollywood said that he thought of O’Carroll as a “mentor” previously, however that there was “bullying going on.”

As of now, Brendan O’Carroll has not responded to Hollywood’s allegations. The team behind Mrs. Brown’s Boys, including the BBC, has also remained quiet.

Earlier this month, O’Carroll claimed that Hollywood had left the show for “personal reasons,” and an insider soon responded by saying that the comedian was lying. While the Mrs. Brown’s Boys star maintained that he was in a good place with Hollywood, the insider alleged that he was just trying to look good.

We’ll be curious to see how Brendan O’Carroll responds to Gary Hollywood’s latest claims, especially since legal action is being taken.
