Call Me Kat synopsis

As Parade reports, Call Me Kat is a quirky comedy following the day to day life of a single woman who “opens up a cat café after quitting her unfulfilling job.” As it turns out, the series is actually based on a popular show from across the pond. It is inspired by the 2009 BBC Two series Miranda, created by English comedian Miranda Hart.

Reported by Deadline, Bialik shared what the American spin on this sitcom is really all about during the Fox Press Tour. The Blossom star said the series depicts “a woman who’s owning all of herself,” and that the show aims to show “a very non-conventional female” living her life on her own terms in this day and age, no matter what her meddling mother has to say about it.

Fox describes the show as:

"Based on the BBC UK original series “Miranda,” CALL ME KAT stars Mayim Bialik as a woman who struggles every day against society and her mother to prove that she can still live a happy and fulfilling life despite still being single at 39."
