We Can Be Heroes was one of the many new releases over the holiday break! If you loved it and want to know if there’s more of the same adventures ahead, you’ve come to the right place!

Fans of all ages made sure to watch We Can Be Heroes on Netflix over the holiday break. The “old” for the nostalgia as it features Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Sure, these two iconic characters aren’t back in the movie in major roles, heck, Sharkboy isn’t even reprised by Taylor Lautner, but nostalgia is nostalgia.

Younger audiences tuned in for the fun thrills, who doesn’t love a good kid-spy action movie? Writer and director Robert Rodriguez knows his audience well!

Is We Can Be Heroes 2 happening?

Unfortunately, the movie hasn’t been picked up for a sequel just yet — nothing has been announced or official. However, it does in with the promise of more to come, Digital Spy points out.

When Netflix has a clear number of how many households and subscribers watched the movie, we should learn of its future plans. I’m betting a sequel will be ordered. In fact, this may be a new movie series.

"The source shares that Rodriguez commented, “if this is successful, I would love to [make a sequel]. I already have lots of ideas for more kids in the future, more adventures, they’re just now becoming a team. You could go on and on with this.”"

We Can Be Heroes 2 release date

Once We Can Be Heroes 2 is official, it could premiere around the same time as it did this year, but not until 2022.

Because of COVID-19, filming may take longer as no one is rushing to get anything done if it’s not being done safely. With that in mind, Christmas 2022 is a good prediction, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted if we learn more!
