We’ve patiently waited, and now our patience is paying off. The Doctor Who 2021 holiday special airs tonight. Don’t miss a beat of this episode.

The episode picks up off the back of the Doctor Who Season 12 finale. The Doctor has been imprisoned for eternity, but her fam has no idea where she is. In fact, they think she’s just left them, and they’re not all that happy about this decision.

We know she hasn’t left them entirely by choice. Well, she’s not staying away by choice. Nor is she leaving Earth unprotected from the latest threat…the Daleks once again.

Captain Jack Harkness returns to save the day

It’s okay! The companions are not going to be alone. Captain Jack is back!

He’ll return to help Yaz, Ryan, and Graham take care of the Daleks this time. Maybe they’ll also figure out that The Doctor hasn’t just up and left them behind. Jack knows The Doctor wouldn’t come to save Earth from the Daleks if she had a choice, right?

Will the trio and Jack manage to figure out what’s happened to The Doctor during this episode? Is this going to set up a season of finding her?

It won’t be the entire trio looking for her. Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole won’t return after the Doctor Who 2021 holiday special. Season 13 looks set to be The Doctor and Yaz, the first time only women have been in the TARDIS.

Will Jack also return in more of a full-time role? We’ll have to wait and see. I wouldn’t complain if there was more John Barrowman on my TV screen!
