Cobra Kai Season 3 is now streaming on Netflix, will you be watching?
Fans of the Karate Kid franchise are about to start 2021 on a high note. Cobra Kai Season 3 is now streaming on Netflix. The third season was originally scheduled to premiere on Jan. 8, but Netflix moved the premiere up by one week.
Cobra Kai continues the events of The Karate Kid 34 years later, but this time, the story is told from the point of view of the original villain, Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). Johnny is no longer the popular kid from the first movie.
He drinks too much, lives in a rundown apartment, and lacks confidence. That all changes when he mentors his neighbor, Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña), and reopens Cobra Kai dojo as the new sensei.
While Johnny can’t catch a break, his rival, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), created a great life for himself. Daniel is a successful car salesman with a huge house, a beautiful wife, and two kids including Samantha (Mary Mouser). When Daniel gets word of Cobra Kai’s revival, he tries to stop it immediately. In a way, the two rivals’ roles reverse as Johnny becomes the sympathetic character and Daniel becomes more of the bad guy.
The end of Season 2 provided three shocking moments. Robby (Tanner Buchanon), Johnny’s son and Daniel’s student at Miyagi-Do, kicked Miguel off a balcony, temporarily paralyzing him and forcing Miguel to go on life support. Johnny lost control of Cobra Kai to John Kreese (Martin Kove) after Miguel’s accident. Finally, unbeknownst to him, Johnny received a Facebook friend request from the love of his life and ex-girlfriend, Ali Mills Schwarber (Elisabeth Shue).
Season 3 details
Cobra Kai Season 3 will pick off shortly after the events that transpired in the Season 2 finale. Miguel is alive, and Johnny decides to train Miguel once again but this time, he’s pushing him to walk. More characters from the original franchise will return as Daniel visits Okinawa, where he runs into his old love interest, Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita), and old rival, Chozen Toguchi ( Yuji Okumoto). Also, Robby is locked up in a juvenile detention center, where he will be visited by Kreese. Will Robby join Cobra Kai?
