Pieces of a Woman on Netflix: Cast, synopsis, more
By Sandy C.
Pieces of a Woman is now streaming on Netflix, here are five things to know about the film.
The movie Pieces of a Woman may not have received as much attention as it has been if it weren’t for Shia LaBeouf. But what else is there to know about the drama?
Netflix is kicking off the year with a film that will have many eyes on it. Not necessarily for its story, but one actor involved, in particular. Still, let’s not allow this to take away from the movie, which frankly seems like it’ll be very impactful.
Pieces of a Woman, adapted from Kornel Mundruczo and Kata Weber’s 2018 stageplay of the same name, stars Vanessa Kirby, Shia LaBeouf, Molly Parker, and Sarah Snook. It is distributed exclusively by Netflix, so if you want to watch the movie, you’ll need an account!

Synopsis
A Boston couple, Martha (Vanessa Kirby) and Sean (Shia LaBeouf) are about to become parents when the home birth goes terribly wrong. Their midwife is now facing charges, but the damage has been done.
Martha is struggling to deal with her grief, while also working on her relationship with her husband.
Shia LaBeouf’s removal from promos
Initially, the actor appeared in the posters and was seen more in teaser trailers. Now, it’s only Kirby who we see. This is due to the lawsuit currently happening from FKA Twigs, LaBeouf’s former girlfriend, who has sued the actor for emotional, physical, and sexual abuse during their time together.
Critics are praising the movie
In particular, critics are loving Kirby’s performance, which they share is deeply personal, impactful, and emotional. USA Today shares that, “the film’s opening 24-minute birthing sequence will leave you breathless.”
