Is there a new episode of Saturday Night Live tonight, January 9?

Are we staying up to watch a new episode of Saturday Night Live or calling it an early night?

How many weeks has it been without Saturday Night Live on NBC? One too many, I’ll tell you! The holidays are now over, but, unfortunately, that doesn’t mean SNL‘s immediate return. That’s right, there is no new episode tonight.

We sincerely hope that everyone in the Saturday Night Live cast and crew are enjoying some much needed time off. Really. But when are they coming back? Can they at least throw us a bone and tease who will be hosting upcoming episodes?

Which musicians will take the stage to entertain? We don’t have any answers. Well, we do have somewhat of an idea on SNL‘s return date.

When is Saturday Night Live coming back?

If you follow SNL closely, you already know that its schedule can be a little complicated. The sketch comedy series can be on for a few weeks, leave for one or two weeks, and suddenly return.

With Christmas and New Year’s behind us, we can expect one or two more Saturday nights without SNL. This means that the comedy can return next week, Jan. 16 or Jan. 23.

In 2020, Saturday Night Live returned after the holidays on Jan. 25, so a Jan. 23, 2021, return date is looking likely. However, we’ve also seen it back Jan. 19 and Jan. 13 — so we’ll be sure to keep you posted once we learn something from an official source.

In the meantime, you can take comfort in the fact that when the cast and crew get together to work on new episodes (if they are not already doing so), it’s going to be amazing! If they wait until Jan. 23, it will be after the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, which happens on Jan. 20.

Let’s just say the SNL writers already have a lot of material to go off on. We’re excited to see what they’ve come up with!
