Servant season 2 review: Leanne unleashes new horrors on the Turners
By Sandy C.
Servant season 2 brings back everything we loved about the first season along with brilliantly orchestrated new horrors.
Servant season 2 premieres on Jan. 15 only on Apple TV Plus, will you be watching? If you’re not caught up on the psychological horror drama, you’re missing out! Stream season 1 before reading our spoiler-free review of season 2, below.
When Apple TV Plus launched, the main focus was The Morning Show and See. And while I enjoyed both, I have to say Servant is the streaming service’s real gem!
Simply put, Servant offers thrills you don’t get from many other psychological horrors. There’s no violence, gore, or silly jump scares — the terror and fears installed on audiences are truly psychological.
It’s not for everybody, though, one must be patient. I would also not recommend Servant to those who like all questions answered without any mystery. Servant takes its time telling the story, and doesn’t give away all the details, or answers.
Instead, the thriller keeps you guessing, offering bread crumbs to an even larger puzzle. This is where season 1 left audiences — with many pieces of the puzzle put together only to find out the puzzle is much larger than we anticipated.
What to expect from Servant season 2
I didn’t think the same fear could be captured in season 2, but I’m happy to report I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Servant returns with more of what we loved about season 1, but plenty of more new factors to love. Leanne is as mystifying as ever, Sean is being pulled from all sides, and Dorothy, well, she’s still being Dorothy.
Make no mistake, though. Dorothy may be living in an entirely different reality, but she shows us just how clever she can be in season 2. Let’s just say she didn’t become a reporter out of sheer luck.
Rupert Grint continues to be the standout in the series. Grint’s character’s popularity was heard loud and clear after the first season, as he has some of the best scenes and lines in season 2. We also get to see a different side of him and relate to how much he cares about his family.
Apple TV Plus premieres Servant season 2 on Jan. 15, dropping episode 1. A new episode each Friday will follow.
