2. Laurel was set to marry another man

The two quickly hit it off and fell in love. Unfortunately, Laurel was on track to marry a man who worked for her father named Marshall. After returning home from a date with Hai late one night, Laurel’s father called her into his study and told her that Marshall had been to see him and asked permission to marry Laurel.

He said yes and gave him a promotion; and told Laurel that she must accept the proposal. Not wanting to be forced into a marriage with a man she didn’t love, Laurel fleed, asking Hai to come with her. Unfortunately, he declined her invitation, feeling a sense of duty to his own parents, and the two lovebirds parted ways with Laurel heading to Pittsburgh.

A few years later, Laurel settled down with William. Although their romance was drug-addled, they’d love each other dearly and get clean long enough to give birth to Randall.

Unfortunately, as we know, just hours after giving birth to Randall, Laurel would ask William to get her something to relieve the pain. He obliged, and although the pain subsided, Laurel overdosed, and upon the arrival of the paramedics, was pronounced dead.

After the paramedics suggested that Child Protective Services should be called, William fleed the apartment with Randall. Moments later, Laurel woke up.
