Nicholas and Lucy Lyndhurst are opening up about their son Archie’s death, and the tragic cause of death has been revealed. The So Awkward actor shockingly passed away in September 2020 at the very young age of 19.

As reported by People, Lucy took to Instagram this past weekend to share sweet photos with her son, along with an explanation for what happened. In one of her lengthy captions, she confirmed that Archie died of natural causes, and that he suffered from a rare hemorrhage.

Part of Lucy’s statement about the late Archie reads:

"The Dr explained Archie died from natural causes (something we knew already, only gossips, keyboard warriors, trolls and the ignorant thought differently)He died from an Intracerebral Haemorrhage caused by Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma/Leukaemia. This is not Leukaemia as we know it, the word Acute in medical terms means rapid. He assured us that there wasn’t anything anyone could have done as Archie showed no signs of illness. Archie had numerous bleeds on the brain and the Dr went to great lengths to reassure us that he wouldn’t have been in any pain as it happened in his sleep. The results utterly floored us to think something like this could happen. It’s very rare and around only 800 people a year die from it."

Lucy also shared another post dedicated to Archie, opening up on how upsetting it was that people assumed he had overdosed without actually having any information. She explained in part of her lengthy caption:

"I would have liked to have been able to tell you all individually this news but once again the press felt it was their news to tell first, so I feel I need to get the truth out there before the assumptions of him overdosing etc start again. To have a coroner call you a few days after your child has died to say the press have been calling for the results of Archie’s post mortem, I think stoops to an all time low for us. What gives the press the right to badger a coroner’s office solely to find the cause of death before the parents. The complete lack of empathy is astounding. We released no information at the time as we had no idea what he had died from."

Nicholas previously shared a short statement to People when he and Lucy went public with the news of their son’s death, saying, “Lucy and I are utterly grief stricken and respectfully request privacy.”

Nicholas rose to fame back in the 1980s for his central role as Rodney Trotter in the long-running show Only Fools and Horses. He married Lucy in 1999, and the pair welcomed Archie into the world in 2000. Archie was an only child, and followed in his dad’s footsteps with acting. Apart from playing Ollie Coulton in So Awkard from 2015 to 2020, he also appeared in shows like Casualty and Bad Education.

We can’t even imagine the pain Nicholas, Lucy, and their entire family is feeling following Archie’s untimely death. We hope they have a strong support system and now that the cause of death has been revealed, false accusations and assumptions will stop.
