A dam breaks on the 9-1-1 Season 4 premiere, possibly triggering the mudslide we see in the promo for the episode. Make sure you don’t miss a beat of the show’s return on FOX tonight.
The episode is one of those we’ve waited a while for. FOX opted to push all fall programming to the new year, allowing everyone time to film. And after the on-off programming on CBS, ABC, and NBC, I’m glad that was the decision.
The 9-1-1 Season 4 premiere will pick up within the pandemic. It’s not clear how long into the pandemic the show is. Will we get the start of it or flashbacks to what the beginning was like. Hopefully, it’s just in the middle, so it looks like the new normal when it comes to mask-wearing (which does allow the actors on the show to remain safe while filming, too).
Broken dams and mudslides on the 9-1-1 Season 4 premiere
The big focus for the premiere episode is the broken dam. It’s likely the thing that triggers the mudslide, which will take out part of the iconic Hollywood sign.
That sign is the least of concerns, though. The mudslide puts many people at risk, and it’s going to be up to Bobby, Athena, Buck, Hen, and all the others to manage the situation and save as many lives as possible.
Nikki DeLoach, who plays Awkward‘s Lacey Hamilton, is guest-starring on the episode as one of the victims in need.

"When the Hollywood Reservoir dam breaks, Bobby and the 118 race into action to save passengers on a city bus that has crashed into a building several stories in the air. Maddie must first locate, and then rescue, a trapped cyclist, and Athena helps an agoraphobic woman evacuate her home. Meanwhile, the team adjusts to life as first responders during the pandemic. Bobby worries if Athena is ready for field duty since recovering from her physical and psychological injuries; Chimney takes extreme precautions around a pregnant Maddie; and May begins a surprising new job."
