Liv Tyler couldn’t return to film 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2 due to the pandemic

When 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2 started filming, fans quickly learned that Liv Tyler wouldn’t return. The actress couldn’t make the schedule work due to the pandemic. That meant the show would need to find a way to write her character, Michelle, out.

Some TV shows, such as Chicago PD, have just had characters disappear. 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2 quickly made it clear what happened to Michelle. She’s gone, but it doesn’t need to be permanent. If Tyler wants to and can return, the writers would be able to find a way to write her in.

Where is Michelle on 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2?

Tim isn’t happy about Michelle’s decision to leave. He brings up the topic by calling her selfish. Others are more on her side, especially other women. And I love that it’s the women supporting another woman.

Michelle chose to leave being a paramedic to help homeless people suffering with mental health issues. It all came off the back of her sister’s story, who turned up alive but homeless after years of searching.

The exit storyline was clearly thought out based on events from the season. It wasn’t just a case of “she just wanted to find herself” in the way Connie Britton’s exit was handled at the end of 9-1-1 Season 1, which arguably had no warning when you consider everything. Michelle leaving to help homeless people suffering from mental health issues is close to home and would become a vocation.

The exit offers one thing: Michelle can return. While she may not return to being a paramedic, she could show up and help with a situation at a later point in the series. Hopefully nothing like the way Abby came back into Buck’s life and further broke his heart.
