When we last left the gang at Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, love was most certainly in the air. Actually, there was quite a bit of lust out there, too…but that’s none of our business.

That brings us to Season 2, Episode 3. After such a happy ending for Zoey (Jane Levy) and Max (Sylar Astin) in Episode 2, what could possibly go wrong? Well, based on the information we can actually share about “Zoey’s Extraordinary Dreams,” the short answer is quite a lot.

It’s not exactly as if it’s been a terribly long time since Zoey’s dad, Mitch, died. So, it probably shouldn’t be any surprise, whatsoever, that the promo for Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 2, Episode 3 features John Clarence Stewart’s Simon giving our leading lady some sage advice on grief. Namely, she can’t outrun it.

Aside from the usual formula of “Zoey hears a heart song, then helps someone with their problems” that this show always finds new and interesting ways to explore, what’s next for Zoey? Promotional photos feature a number of the SPRQ POINT employees, including the new not-so-bro brogrammers, in baseball jerseys…But don’t expect that to have anything to do with Max’s special rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

Are there any clues in the Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist Season 2, Episode 3 synopsis? Let’s take a look:

"Bad dreams that haunt Zoey begin to affect her personal life; Jenna helps Maggie recover her creative spirit."

Jenna (Jee Young Han) has been a nice new addition to this show, and any time we get to see more of Mary Steenburgen as Maggie, we’re totally here for it. Seeing these two ladies together should be a real treat, especially considering they were already starting to form some kind of friendship last time we saw them together.

There’s still nothing to give away what the brogrammers are up to. So, let’s just say they’re the least of Zoey’s problems. Between the mention of “bad dreams” in the episode description and the talk about outrunning grief in the trailer, just keep an eye out for this particular installment of the series to be a lot less fun and games, a lot more punch to the gut, than the last. Zoey is still in mourning, after all…
