From family bonding to horseback riding, here are our six favorite moments from Walker Episode 2.

In Walker Episode 2 on The CW, Walker has to get recertified to become a Texas Ranger once again but finds himself struggling to move forward because of his lingering questions about Emily’s death.

The episode is fittingly titled “Back in the Saddle,” as Walker must figure out how to get his life back to normal after everything that has happened over the past 11 months. There were many great moments throughout the hour, including some much-needed bonding with his children Stella and August, along with some action sequences that were sorely lacking from the premiere hour.

6. Walker rides in on Texas Nightshade in Walker Episode 2.

More from CW

The case of the week revolves around a mysterious fire that resulted in the death of a horse and a farmhand. Micki and Walker are initially led to believe that the horse is a wounded star racehorse named Texas Nightshade.

In reality, Nightshade had been set free by a man who felt he deserved a second chance despite his career-ending leg injury. When they start getting reports that a horse has been seen roaming around downtown, Walker and Micki realize it must be Nightshade.

Walker gets to ride in and help save the day during a big shootout sequence on the back of Nightshade and nail his recertification in the process. The one test he was most struggling with was riding horseback due to an old saddlebag Emily made for him with their initials inscribed. Rounding up Nightshade gives Walker the chance to prove himself. And as he says, he might not be an official ranger at the moment, but he’ll always be a cowboy.

5. Micki & Trey decide to take the next step in Walker Episode 2.

Micki and Trey’s relationship is our primary source of romance on the budding CW series thus far, and they’re charming together. Still in the relatively early stages of their relationship, they discuss the promise of their future together. Micki wants to ensure Trey knows how important her job is to her as one of the first women, and women of color, to become a Texas Ranger.

At the same time, Trey is on extended leave and plans to stick around — and stay with Micki — for longer than they’ve ever stayed together. It looks the pair are truly in love as they agree to take their relationship to the next level, both of them seemingly in it for the long haul.
