“The Equalizer” – Academy Award® nominee and multi-hyphenate Queen Latifah stars as Robyn McCall, an enigmatic former CIA operative who uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn. As McCall acclimates to civilian life, she is compelled to use her considerable resources to help Jewel (Lorna Courtney), a teenager accused of murder and on the run from the criminals who framed her for the crime, on the series premiere of the re-imagined classic series THE EQUALIZER, to be broadcast immediately following CBS Sports’ broadcast of SUPER BOWL LV on Sunday, Feb. 7 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/7:00-8:00 PM, PT; time is approximate after post-game coverage) on the CBS Television Network. The long-awaited reboot of CBS’s The Equalizer is finally almost here.

Starring rapper and Oscar-nominated actress Queen Latifah, the original series was made popular in the 1980s by British actor Edward Woodward as the titular character. Denzel Washington successfully reprised the role in the 2014 and 2018 film versions.

As additional pride for Latifah, the show was filmed in her home state of New Jersey. An avid biker, the actress is also stoked about showcasing her riding throughout various episodes.

The Equalizer Season 1 release date

The new drama will make its debut in the coveted time slot following Super Bowl LV on Sunday, Feb. 7 on CBS. So, don’t go devouring all those hot wings by game’s end.

The Equalizer will settle in at a regular time slot of 8 p.m. EST starting Sunday, Feb. 14.

The Equalizer Season 1 cast

Queen Latifah is cast as Robyn McCall, aka The Equalizer,” a divorced single mom to a teenage daughter. However, just like her predecessors, Robyn McCall is a skilled vigilante for justice for those who have nowhere else to turn. Chris Noth of Sex and the City and Law & Order fame plays the role of William Bishop, Robyn’s former but quirky CIA handler.

Layla DeLeon plays the part of Delilah (Robyn’s daughter) and Lorraine Toussaint is Aunt Frieda aka Aunt Fry, who also lives with Robyn and Delilah.

Rounding out the cast are:

  • Tory Kittles as NYPD Detective Marcus Dante
  • Adam Goldberg as Robyn’s eccentric tech support Harry Keshegian
  • Liza Lapira as Melody Chu, a former military sniper turned bar owner who is a friend of Robyn’s

She is also a mentally and physically equipped guardian angel of the downtrodden who is on a path of pursuit for redemption. The first case up is a hunted teen falsely accused of murder and needing Robyn’s help.
