It looks like it’s officially a new chapter for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

As fans of the famous couple know, after getting married back in 2018 the pair started distancing themselves from the Royal Family. Between issues with the relentless media in England and the business opportunities they could score elsewhere, the two made the move first to Canada and then to California. Now, with a second baby on the way, the sky is seemingly the limit for Harry and Meghan.

However, a new development in their lives might change things forever. As reported by ELLE, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had to decide whether or not they would be returning to royal life for their one-year review. Unsurprisingly, the happy couple has no plans to return to their lives across the pond, and apparently the Queen has now stripped them “all the royal patronages” previously bestowed upon them.

The Buckingham Palace, along with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have released statements regarding the news.

The official statement from the Royal Family does clarify that they are still on good terms with Harry and Meghan, reading:

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed to Her Majesty The Queen that they will not be returning as working members of The Royal Family.Following conversations with The Duke, The Queen has written confirming that in stepping away from the work of The Royal Family it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service. The honorary military appointments and Royal patronages held by The Duke and Duchess will therefore be returned to Her Majesty, before being redistributed among working members of The Royal Family. While all are saddened by their decision, The Duke and Duchess remain much loved members of the family."

A spokesperson for Meghan and Harry responded to the news by releasing the following statement:

"As evidenced by their work over the past year, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the U.K. and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organizations they have represented regardless of official role. We can all live a life of service. Service is universal."

Per ELLE, a journalist named Omid Scobie took to Twitter to share what exact titles Meghan and Harry will have removed, which you can see below.

While it might seem harsh to strip the power couple from their royal patronages, it doesn’t look like Harry and Meghan are sweating it. They’ve certainly got their hands full raising one-year-old Archie, preparing for their second baby, and scoring new business deals left and right. In recent months, they’ve inked deals with Spotify and Netflix, and there have even been rumors that Meghan might be writing a book. Onto new things!
