The Powerpuff Girls are coming to The CW and hopefully, they’re not alone. When it was announced that we’d be getting a live-action Powerpuff Girls series on The CW, it wasn’t exactly something many could have predicted. That being said, The CW has created a network that genuinely thrives on superpowers, and the super-sisters are well known by multiple generations.

Once the can of worms is opened because of a live-action adaptation, there comes some expectations and hope for a little content-appreciation. If we’re getting to see a grown-up version of a trio that were once kindergarten heroes, who else do we want to see get involved in the chaos of Townsville?

Rowdyruff Boys

When you mix teenagers and The CW, you’re going to get some degree of angst. The inevitable conflict for love is a timeless trope for young adults, and networks like CW excel at making that a reality.

In the cartoon, the Rowdyruff Boys were villains opposite the girls, with similarities in appearance, as well as identical abilities. The team created a great juxtaposition for The Powerpuff Girls, and despite their brief role, they remain a fan favorite opposition to Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup.

In a live-action version, it could be very smart to take characters that made an impact with small roles and use the idea to expand having grown up. If the Rowdyruff Boys get that chance, we’ll have three others who can create a perfect balance of good and evil with a unique understanding that makes the fight challenging.

Sara Bellum on The Powerpuff Girls

She may have been a background character, but you can’t have The Powerpuff Girls without at least a slight nod towards the wonderful Ms. Sara Bellum.

The character who has always remained unseen, found untraditional methods to maintain her long-running mystery, and it’s one of the randomly lovable traits of the franchise. She was always the brains behind the ill-equipped mayor of the town, and her role brought comfort to others, a little humor, and the occasional badass moment.

Longtime fans know that there’s at least one moment where Ms. Bellum takes center-stage, with a fight against a major Powerpuff Girls villain, so it would be nice to show some respect. Even if it’s a mention of her, let’s hope we’ll see her somewhere down the line.

HIM

Of all of The Powerpuff Girls villains, one of the most well-known is none other than HIM.

The satan-inspired villain enjoys psychological torture like it’s a sport, and is actively referred to as a sinister being that remains nameless. HIM was said to be The Powerpuff Girls creator Craig McCracken’s favorite villain to write for the series, so there’s plenty of room for storytelling for that notion alone.

While the devilish appearance of HIM was altered to accommodate the young audience, a more grown-up version of the series gives us a chance to see HIM embrace evil even more. If there’s any desire to make the series have those darker instances that follow genre-bending titles like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, HIM is the overarching villain you want in your back pocket.
