The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 premiere date confirmed: April 2021
Are you ready to see the next stage of June’s journey? If not, get ready. The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 is coming in April 2021.
It’s been a while since the last new episode of The Handmaid’s Tale. The Season 3 finale aired on Aug. 14, 2019, a year and a half ago! Granted, we’ve had a pandemic and that’s been the reason for the delay, but that doesn’t stop some people from possibly forgetting where we left our characters.
However, none of that stops us from being super excited about The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 release date. It will premiere on Wednesday, April 28.
According to Deadline, Hulu will release the show the same way as the third season. The first three episodes will drop at once and then Hulu will release the season one episode per week. There are 10 episodes in the season, so it matches the first season’s length. Part of this may be due to the pandemic.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 teaser trailer
As well as releasing the premiere date, Hulu also has a teaser trailer for us. It’s a snapshot into the events that will happen throughout the season, and one thing we see is that June has recovered from the gunshot wound she sustained at the end of the third season finale.
Take a look at the teaser trailer before I break it down:
She is also surrounded by other handmaids who all helped her get the children out of Gilead and to Canada. They fear that they will now need to hide, but June says it’s time to fight.
While they may end up fighting, it also looks like they’re about to flee. At one point, we see June reach a Canadian port. Will she finally be reunited with Luke?
Commander Fred and Serena Joy remain in Canada. They were arrested during the previous season, and it looks like they may have to work together again despite betraying each other’s trust. Fred says that “she’ll start a war,” presumably a comment about June.
Of course, Fred will be worried about Gilead falling. He doesn’t see a problem with the misogynistic, dangerous society.
Meanwhile, Commander Joseph is at home and spends some time with Nick. He makes it clear that Nick needs to move on. The question is whether we can still trust Nick. He’s played both sides to protect himself. Mind you, so has Joseph to keep his position of privilege.
