Is Mackey leaving Chicago Fire?

Mackey got an offer she couldn’t turn down on Chicago Fire Season 9, Episode 9. Is Adriyan Rae really leaving the series already?

Firehouse 51 really has some problems with keeping its paramedics. After only joining the team at the start of Chicago Fire Season 9, Mackey is already exiting the building.

During the recent episode, Mackey got a job offer that she couldn’t really turn down. Not only would it be great for her career, but it would also allow her to focus on her work. Right now, she worries too much about Cruz when he’s running into burning buildings and she’s left on the outside. She fears that he’ll be one on the gurney.

It’s an understandable fear. Most childhood friends would struggle to work in jobs like this together, especially if they haven’t been through training together.

Why is Adriyan Rae leaving Chicago Fire?

This is one of those exits that wasn’t for creative reasons. The initial intention for Chicago Fire was to keep her around. However, Rae turned to her bosses to ask to step away for personal reasons, according to Derek Haas to TVLine.

That’s all we get to know. That’s all we really know. It’s not a right we have to understand why an actor or actress is leaving a series.

Rae confirmed the exit on her Instagram account after the episode last night.

This doesn’t mean it’s the last we’ve seen of Mackey, of course. The character is heading to another firehouse, just like Brett’s partner Foster went back to med school. These types of exits allow for characters to return if the schedule and stories allow.

As for Brett’s partner, she’s going to be in search for a new one. It looks like Boden has already figured something out. Gallo’s ex, Violet, is potentially returning.
